BBR Optometry has been named as one of the key sponsors of the Borderlines Film Festival 2018
One of the UK’s most significant independent film festivals is to be supported by Hereford-based BBR Optometry as a key sponsor, it has been announced.
The Borderlines Film Festival, which covers Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Marches, attracted over 19,300 attendees to its event in 2017, making it a significant national UK film event.
BBR Optometry, based at St Owen Street in Hereford, will be one of the main sponsors in 2018, as the festival plans even more opportunities for attendees to see films that are yet to be released into the mainstream.
“Reaching out to people throughout the region and beyond, the Borderlines Film Festival has grown into a significant event, one that we’re very pleased to be supporting with our sponsorship,” said Nick Rumney, owner and chairman of BBR Optometry.
“Visual arts such as this allow people to view films that they might not otherwise go to see, bringing new audiences to the different genres of film put on by the festival organisers.
The festival’s location in smaller, rural venues throughout Herefordshire, Shropshire and the Marches also ensures communities that might not have access to cinemas and other such facilities can participate and engage with such an event which is now of significant national importance attracting over 19,000 people to the 2017 festival.”
BBR Optometry will be the key sponsor of the main evening showings of Ghost Stories on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March. The film stars Martin Freeman and Paul Whitehouse among others. It is based on a West End play brought to the big screen focussing on the supernatural and attempts to debunk it.
The Borderlines Film Festival 2018 will take place between Friday, 23 February and Sunday, 11 March at venues throughout the region.
