BBR Optometry remains the first and only practice in
Hereford to bring digital retinal photography onto the high
street. Whilst this is now, in our opinion, an essential part of
any comprehensive eye examination, it has already been
superseded.
OCT is Optical Coherence Tomography. This is
the next generation in imaging the internal
structures of the eye. The OCT is a special
scanner that creates a sort of optical
ultrasound three dimensional image of the
inside of the eye. The unique way the image is formed means that for the first time we can
actually see below the surface of the retina and view the microscopic layers beneath. This is
of profound importance in determining the precise diagnosis of visual problems and in
helping us guide patients on the treatment options possible.
Once again BBR Optometry is able to offer its patients direct access to the most sophisticated
eye examination available. This is nothing like an ordinary eye test or even a normal private BBR
eye examination, the instrumentation is brand new, unique to the County and available to all
patients either on request or at the suggestion of the optometrist.
