BBR Optometry is delighted to be able to showcase the work of Worcester-based artist Edward Noott RBSA at its Hereford-based practice.
The premises at 38 St. Owen Street were extensively refurbished last year meaning a lot of extra wall space has been created providing a perfect place to hang artworks.
Nick Rumney, Chairman at BBR Optometry, and himself an art enthusiast, says: “It is now firmly established that art has a positive effect on people’s well-being so with all the extra wall space we now enjoy, it seemed an obvious choice to display paintings.
“As an established local business, however, we also wanted to give something back to the community and that is why we have decided to support local artists such as Edward.
“We already have three abstract paintings by Hereford-based artist Edward Ball on our walls and now we have added this impressionist-style work by Edward Noott which depicts Herefordshire’s famous apple blossom.
“Patients are already commenting on how nice it is to be able to see such original artwork and the fact we offer a mini gallery here in Hereford, one to which we are constantly seeking to expand so I would be delighted to hear from any other artists who would be interested in working with us,” he added.
Born in 1965, Edward Noott studied a Foundation Course at the Cheltenham College of Art before later gaining a BA in Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic College of Art.
He later attended the State University of New York, Oneonta, N.Y and has since had work exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Oils, the Royal Birmingham Society of Painters, Royal West of England Academy and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne.
One-man exhibitions have been held at Broadway, in the Cotswolds annually since 1993, together with exhibitions in Bristol in 1995 and 1997, at the Weatherburne Gallery, Naples, U.S.A. in February 2000, and the John M. Stringer Gallery, New Jersey, 2002, 2005 and 2007 and at the Bourne Gallery 2006.
Awards include Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Open Exhibition 2003 - Best painting and Royal West of England Academy Purchase Prize (purchased by the University of Wales for their permanent collection) and he also has works in the permanent collection at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
